Off track?

Signs Your Garage Door Is Off Track

  • Rollers outside the track
  • Door hanging crooked or twisted
  • Gap between the door and the frame
  • Door stuck partway open
  • Bent or kinked track
  • Grinding or scraping noise
  • Loose track brackets
  • Slack or snapped cable on one side
Unplug the opener and keep clear of the door. Do not try to hammer the rollers back in. The door is still under spring tension.

How We Fix an Off-Track Door

We clamp and support the door, release the tension safely and guide each section back into alignment. Bent tracks are straightened or replaced, brackets are re-anchored into solid framing and damaged rollers are swapped for quiet, sealed nylon rollers.

Then we look for the cause, which is usually a broken cable or spring or a door that was bumped, and fix that too, so the door does not jump the track again next week.

Off-Track Garage Door FAQs

Rollers sitting outside the track, a door that is crooked or twisted, a gap between the door and the frame, or a door that jams and will not move are the usual signs.

A car bumping the door, a broken cable or spring, worn or broken rollers, loose track brackets, or something blocking the door while it closes.

It is not recommended. An off-track door is unstable and still connected to springs under heavy tension. Forcing it can bend the panels or let the door fall.

Not always. Slightly bent tracks can often be straightened and re-anchored. Tracks that are kinked or badly bent are replaced so the door runs smoothly.

No. The opener will keep pulling and can twist the door further or damage itself. Unplug it and call for service.

Yes. AER repairs off-track garage doors across the Santa Clarita Valley, including Valencia, Saugus, Canyon Country, Newhall, Stevenson Ranch and Castaic.
