Opener Repair
Many opener problems are not the opener at all. A heavy, out-of-balance door or a misaligned sensor causes most "broken opener" calls. So we test the door first, then the opener's drive, logic board, travel limits, force settings and safety sensors.
Common fixes include drive-gear kits, replacement logic boards, new sensors, travel and force adjustments and reprogramming remotes and keypads.

New Opener Options
01
Belt drive
Very quiet. A good choice when there is a bedroom or office over the garage.
02
Chain drive
Durable, reliable and economical for detached garages and heavier doors.
03
Wall-mount (jackshaft)
Mounts beside the door to free the ceiling for storage or a car lift. Very quiet.
New openers we install include battery backup as California requires, plus smartphone control options so you can check and close the door from anywhere.

What Affects the Cost of an Opener Repair or Replacement
Every door is different, so we quote after seeing it. These are the things that move the price:
- The failed part. A gear kit, sensor or logic board costs far less than a new opener.
- Drive type. Chain drives cost less than belt drives, and wall-mount openers cost more.
- Features. Battery backup (required in California), Wi-Fi, cameras and extra remotes or keypads.
- The door itself. A heavy or out-of-balance door may need a spring or roller fix first, or the new opener will wear out early.

Garage Door Opener FAQs
The most common causes are a broken spring, which makes the door too heavy for the opener, a disengaged emergency release, or a stripped drive gear inside the opener.
Usually a safety sensor that is out of line, dirty or blocked, or a close-force setting that needs adjusting. A door that is out of balance can also trigger the auto-reverse.
Gear kits, logic boards, sensors and remotes are often worth repairing. If the opener is old, has no battery backup or Wi-Fi and the repair is a large part of the price of a new one, replacement is usually the better value.
Yes. Under California law (SB 969), residential garage door openers sold or installed in California since July 1, 2019 must have a battery backup, so the door still works during a power outage.
Belt drives are much quieter, which is worth it if there is a bedroom above or beside the garage. Chain drives are durable and cost less. Wall-mount openers free up the ceiling and are very quiet.
